Shining Light to Two Black Trans Businesses

This blog may be shorter than usual, but it's no less significant. One of my key aims with this blog and our non-profit is to spotlight black trans businesses, musicians, artists, or any other endeavors. I want to show others that success is attainable as a trans individual and that being black can be both inspiring and empowering. That's why I've chosen to focus on two highly successful businesses in today's post.

Braxton Fleming (he/him), the Founder of Stealth Bros & Co.

Braxton Fleming is one of the most prominent figures in the black trans community. His notable achievements include being the first black trans man to secure funding from two Shark Tank investors, Barbara Corcoran and Mark Cuban, on the popular television show. Another noteworthy accomplishment is his commitment to providing high-quality products for carrying hormone replacement therapy (HRT) supplies.

Since his debut on Shark Tank, Braxton has appeared on numerous podcasts and interviews, establishing himself not only as an incredible businessman but also as a compassionate individual dedicated to helping and representing those whose voices may not be heard. Braxton is a happily married man and a father of one, who also considers himself a man of God.

Kylo Freeman (they/them), the Founder of For Them

Kylo Freeman is a queer, non-binary black individual who was inspired to create For Them due to the lack of representation within their community. Kylo's primary motto for their business is to “prioritize understanding that diversities in gender expression come first and should be valued and reflected in the products people shop for.”

For Them creates comfortable binders designed for all-day wear, allowing individuals to feel at home in their bodies. They prioritize sustainability by using recycled, eco-friendly materials for all their products. With binder chest sizes ranging from 28 to 63, For Them strives to accommodate all body types and chest sizes.

This is for those who may be in the market for a binder, some reviews have stated that they did not receive the “completely flat look” that some may want. It’s also important to remember that not everyone wants a complete flat look, a lot of non-binary individuals may have dysphoria but may not want a completely flat chest. “For Them” chooses comfortability and your uniqueness first, so some may love their binders and others may not.

Their website also features the LGBTQIA+ magazine, AutoStraddle, covering a wide range of topics including gaming, identity, community, love+sex, and much more. For Them demonstrates its commitment not only to providing comfort in your skin through binding but also to fostering a sense of community and connection.

You can support Kylo by visiting their website at forthem.com and exploring their magazine newsletter at autostraddle.com.
